Obituary of Margaret Doreen O'Grady
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Doreen OGrady OGrady, Margaret Doreen passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 25, 2010. A long time resident of Lockport, she was born on January 13, 1928 in London, Ontario and grew up in North Bay, Ontario. She was the daughter of thelate Alistair and Marjorie Lunau Urquhart. In 1950 she graduated from St. Michaels School of Nursing in Toronto and in 1952 married James Robert (Bob) OGrady. Doreen was a loving and devoted wife and mother who found great joy in her family. A true animal lover throughout her life she always had her faithful dog by her side. She was an avid sports fan and would raise her Buffalo Bills flag on game days, although hockey was her first love. Buffalo Sabres games were often the highlight of her day, although she had a soft spot in her heart for her childhood heroes, the Montreal Canadiens. Her many friends in the Family Circle Mothers Club and neighbors in Lockport were a great source of comfort and joy. Doreen was a founding volunteer with Meals on Wheels program and volunteered with them for over 30 years and was a member of Lockport United Church of Christ. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Bob, she is survived by her children, Brian OGrady, Susan Peterson and Kevin OGrady, her sister, Judith Finlay, her brother, Donald Urquhart, grandchildren, Stacey, Megan and Erik, and many nieces and a nephew. We will dearly miss her words of wisdom, her grace, warmth, enthusiasm, love and laughter, but we know that God has her in His arms now. Friends may call on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM. Memorials in her name may be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 3396, Buffalo, NY 14240-3396 or the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Rd., Box 200 LPO, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
