My deepest condolences to Dick's family. I got to know Dick when I taught his daughters Donna and Wanda at George Southard Elementary School many years ago. What a remarkable person he was. He was deeply interested in his children's education. I later became reacquainted with him when he volunteered at Olcott Beach Carousel Park ( OBCP). He and his good friend Ed Sandusky would often come together and run the rides as well as helping to open and close the park. How he found time to do this, with all the other volunteering he did with other organizations is a testament of his commitment to help out his community. Dick also made the podium we have have in the Skeeball Pavilion at OBCP. We used it as a guest book sign-in.
His passing is a real loss for his community.

I had the privilege of serving with Dick on the Salvation Army Advisory Board for 15 years. He was a highly esteemed member of the Board. He was always willing to set-up to help with any need and actively contributed to each Board meeting he attended with very well reasoned comments. He was always the consummate gentleman. We will all miss his many contributions, but even more his friendship.
