Josephine Pearl Currie of Lockport, NY, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in Niagara Hospice House. Born on January 28, 1923 in Homer City, PA, to Italian immigrants, Giuseppe (Joseph) and Mary (Chiasera) Marisa and stepdaughter of Adeline (Robert) Marisa-Weir. She was a member of St. John’s Altar & Rosary Society and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening and was an avid golfer playing in a variety of leagues around town.
Wife of the late Robert J. Currie, Sr., she is survived by her children, Robert (Cathy) Currie, Jr., Joseph (Kathy) Currie, Sr., John (Paullette) Currie, Sr, Rolland (Diane) Currie, Richard (Lynn) Currie, Marianne Currie-Hall, and Celeste Tina (Robert) Heiman; 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; siblings, Leo (Ronna) Marisa, Stephen (Lana) Marisa, Valeria (Andrew) Golob and Gloria Altimore and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings, Rudolph and Jack Marisa, Joseph (Dorothy) Marisa, Irene Marisa, Louise (Donald) Hubsch, Alvena (John) Boucher and Marie (Robert) Austin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery. Josephine often mentioned how blessed she was for the life she lived. Yet, those who knew her were the ones who were equally blessed.
