Obituary of Mildred H. Martin

Mrs. Mildred H. Martin, of Lockport, passed away early Monday morning, November 24th, 2008 at Lockport Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born in Niagara Falls, NY, September 12th, 1924, a daughter of the late Michael and Hattie (Hartfiel) Higgins. On June 25th, 1949, she married Vincent Martin in Niagara Falls and the couple moved to Medina in 1961. She was the very first Medina production employee at Fisher Price Toys. She worked in the fabrication department as an assistant supervisor for eighteen years retiring January 1987. For many years, she volunteered at the Medina Memorial Hospital, Lockport Memorial Hospital and Medina Food Pantry. Survivors include five children, Maureen Tafuto of Naples, FL, Robert (Rhea) of Medina, Patricia (Robert) Craft of Gasport, Gary (Janis) Martin of Dayton, OH and Brian Martin of Lockport; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, a brother, Joseph Higgins of Niagara Falls, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. June Martin and Mrs. Florence Smith, both of Niagara Falls, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on January 16th, 1990. Friends may call on Friday (2-4, 7-9) at Lange Funeral Home, 186 East Avenue, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10AM at St. John The Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport and interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
