I will always remember Tom as a true professional, and a friend. As an LCTV Board member, I was always amazed at how well Tom kept up on the latest developments in his industry. I am deeply saddened by his untimely passing, and will miss seeing him at LCTV. To Tom's family, and extended family at LCTV, my deepest condolences. Tom has been and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

To Annette and his family,
Tom is the most decent, thoughtful, kind man I ever knew. His dry humor was a cover up for the marshmallow he really was. I love Tom and will miss him. It was an honor to know him for 25 years and I feel blessed by our relationship. He is irreplaceable. You are in my prayers. My sincere sympathy for your and our loss. Bobbie

Dear Annette, Tom's mom and sister,
It is with a very heavy heart that I offer my sympathy to the three of you over the passing of your special husband, son and brother. Tom was dear to my heart as I worked with him so many years while being on the cable commission and community committee. He always strove for quality in everything he did...whether preparing the commission, working with the community, doing a program, being the executive director to perfection. But more than that he was my friend. I would miss him as a par excellent employee but it is his friendship and admiration for him as a person that makes my heart so heavy. So many times of hard work, fun, laughs, decisions done in a collaborative way and with joy of accomplishment. Tom was such a humble man and I am sure he never realized the high regard held of him by others. The last time i saw him was over a lunch together at the Shamus and he talked about future retirement, his wife, his dogs and possible return to Cleveland near family. I know how difficult these days are for you...I also lost my husband when I was 56 and he was 65. I can only assure you that eventually the wonderful memories will help heal the broken heart. My love to each of you. Jane Haenle

Dear Annette, we are so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Tom. I enjoyed our early morning walks over the years with Cocoa, Katie, Nicko, Nellie and Molly. Many mornings we walked in silence and many we needed to walk farther to finish our conversations. May your memories bring you comfort and hold Tom dear to your heart. I'm sure Cocoa, Katie and Nicko are reunited with him, patiently waiting their turn to go walking. RIP Tom
Till we meet again. Kathy, Brian and Molly

I know Tom is in heaven right now saying, “I touched THAT many people’s lives? S.O.B, I don’t believe it!, who knew?” - LOL - I found Tom to be the most private, humble and most caring person I’ve ever known. Working side-by-side with him for over 20 years has been incredible. Even though he was my boss, he always treated me as an equal and was always there for me, both personally and professionally.
Tom was well read, loved his dogs and Annette dearly, hope I didn’t have that in the wrong order (he would have liked that). Music, gardening, and especially fishing were great passions for Tom. I know he loved going to the Lockport Library to get his books and sign out music CDs.
On the technology front, he resisted getting a cell phone at first, but once he got it, all he wanted to do was play “Words with Friends/Scrabble” with Peg and Paul. I’m not saying on work time, but I did go into his office finding him “texting”?
Tom also loved the arts. He produced a show at the Kenan Center for a while that featured a number of artists, and recently enjoyed working with Kathy and Jodi on our “WaterColors” show. Tom enjoyed working with everyone, but the arts, educational and pet/animal rescue type shows were especially his passion.
Years ago, we even “shared” a head-on car collision on Transit Rd. on the way to a meeting in Buffalo we never made it to. Obviously we made it safely out of the accident. The firefighters even decided to use the “jaws of life”, which we noted at the time the fireman seemed to enjoy using, even though we felt we could get out without them... as traumatic as that seemed at the time, it can’t compare to how I feel about Tom’s passing at this time.
Not to leave anyone out, and I’m just saying the very close, immediate, LCTV “family”, I know he truly enjoyed working with Judy, Greg, Phil C and even Buc (he always teased Buc about getting out of his office, even more than me, so that’s why I said even Buc). And of course he had a great rapport with the TWC workers here, especially Char, Shelly, Cheryl, Drew, Mike, Donny, Scott, Phil B, among others.
Another favorite memory is that on an occasional Friday afternoon, Tom, Buc and I (leaving Miss Naylor behind to “hold down the fort” since Greg has Fridays off) would travel to the Casino for lunch at the buffet. I know he liked going for two reasons: 1) Annette encouraged him to eat healthy food - but I didn’t - hmmm. 2) He knew I would treat.
I could go on, so many good memories, but at this point, Tom would normally walk into my office asking what I was doing, then look at my screen and tell me “you spelled that wrong”, “too many run-on sentences”, “grammer, all wrong”… see I can’t even spell grammar correctly. LOL
Even though Tom was the “big boss”, he was always willing to get his hands dirty, even changing light bulbs and gardening out front, oh, wait, he liked that!
I know we will all do Tom proud and carry on the tradition of quality Community Access TV and more.
Tom will be sadly missed.
Rich

Saddened to hear and read of Tom's passing...we became friends years ago through able TV and Lockport school partnerships. We lost contact over the years but I always admired Tom greatly and enjoyed our brief conversations about a variety of subjects - using we bumped into each other at library book sales. This is a big loss for the community. My deepest condolences to his family. All are in my thoughts and prayers. Peace. Ted Hadley

To Annette and to the LCTV family-
I remember well Tom's first days at LCTV and my sense that he was the perfect leader for this unique enterprise. I watched from a distance as the station grew and expanded with the support of the dedicated staff and volunteers. Tom was a gentle soul, always with a welcoming demeanor and a true dedication to the station, its mission and all of those around him.
I was surprised and saddened by his passing and offer my condolences, especially to you Annette, but also to his many, many friends and colleagues.

Shocked, saddened and devastated are just three words that describe my feelings since I was told of Tom's sudden passing on Tuesday. As a member of LCTV's Board of Directors since 1993, I had the privilege to work closely with Tom and witnesses first hand his dedication and compassion to make LCTV a household name in the Lockport community. Quite often I would drop by at the station and discuss gardening, his dogs, birds, fishing and sports in addition to whatever issues were impacting LCTV at the time. I will truly miss him, not only as a professional, but as a dear friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to Annette and the hard working staff at LCTV ( Tom's second family). Rest in peace my friend!

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was a wonderful man and a friend. Not only did he support Jody and I on our show, but he shared his stories with me about Ireland, gardening, etc. He will leave an empty place at LCTV that won't ever be filled. What a nice man. I had spoken to him, hugged and blessed him days before the surgery. I can't describe my feelings of loss and sadness. I will miss him. I will have a Guinness for him as soon as I can and toast him with my father's Irish toast, "Here's to those who are far away, wishing they were neigh, if this drink could bring them back, I would drink the ocean dry".
