James E. Murtaugh Murtaugh, James E. formerly of Lockport, passed away in Orchard Manor, Inc. on Monday April 17, 2006. Born May 21, 1918 in Lockport, he was the son of Edward J. and Florence Wood Murtaugh. He attended Lockport High School and served in the U.S. Army Military Police during WWII. He worked for the Post Office Rural Federal Delivery,Bell Aircraft, was a local electrical contractor and together with his wife developed Candlewood Heights. He was a member of Niagara County Sheriff’s Dept., St. Patrick’s Church for 50 years and St. John’s Church for 30 years. Mr. and Mrs. Murtaugh were loyal volunteers for the YWCA and many of its programs for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Lorna D. Latta Murtaugh, two daughters, Cheryl M. (Robert) Brown of Barker and Mary Jane (John M. II) Thurston of Lockport, four grandchildren, J. Scott Shulock, Paul E. Shulock, Kathleen S. LaRoach and Bryan N. Thurston, a great grandson, Micah H. Pemberton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Catherine Murtaugh. No prior visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Church. Post a message of sympathy at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
