Obituary of Catherine M. Rotondo

Rotondo, Catherine M., 96, of Lockport, NY passed away on Friday December 27, 2013. Born on May 20, 1917 in Lockport, she was the only daughter of college educated deaf mute parents, Charles and Marion Cron Snyder. Catherine married Thomas A. Rotondo on April 5, 1932 and they had been married for almost 81 years when Thomas died nine months ago on March 27, 2013. Together they owned and operated Rotondo’s Grocery Store from 1951 until 1973, when their son, Tom, the former mayor, took over the business. The Rotondo’s vacationed in Florida for many winters. Catherine was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Parish, member of St. Mary’s Mothers Club, Neighborhood Lunch Bunch, was an avid bridge player and a devoted grandmother. She was a lovely reserved lady. Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Rotondo; loving mother of Thomas (Anna Marie) Rotondo, Barbara (Robert) Seefeldt Pool, Rosemary (James) Sullivan and the late Joseph (Mary Ann) Rotondo; grandmother of Lisa (James) Budde, Mary Catherine (Jeff) St. Onge, Linda (Tim) Lederhaus, Annie (Martin) Hall, Kristina (Steven) Flaschner, Christopher (Liz) Seefeldt, Richard Seefeldt, Anthony (Anne) Rotondo, Jeffrey (Laurie) Rotondo, Eric Sullivan and Jordan (Michael) Kingston; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and aunt of several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday 1-4 & 7-9 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport, NY. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc. or DeSales Catholic School.
