I still remember her comforting me when I was upset about my brother running away. I wish my own daughter could have had her Randy & Family, I am sorry for your loss. My condolences to you, your family, and to her friends. Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Be well. Please enjoy all the fond memories - wish I could remember more!! what wonderful memories I have of Betty. the first place I ever stayed overnight was at her house. Then there are all those years. we went to Cape Vincent. Sweet memories. Betty was my mother's best friend and I have had many a visit with Betty as an adult. Many of us on the west end were blessed to have her for a teacher. God bless her family. So sad to hear. She left a legacy of love of learning. From a baby sitter to a member of the lunch bunch. Many wonderful memories of a dear,sweet,friend. I was very sorry to hear of Mrs. Bates' passing. She was my wonderful first grade teacher @ Charlotte Cross. I always remember her in a very special way as she helped to inspire my classroom demeanor toward my students. I was the daughter of immigrant parents and she was so kind and caring. A truly inclusive teacher! May the world find more like her as it has lost a precious one. Aunt Karen and Uncle Bob and the entire family - I am so very sad to hear about Betty. She was such a wonderful, caring woman who always made you feel special. At every picnic, holiday or family gathering, she would ask how I was and the kids. Very many happy memories with her. Your mother and I always kept in touch with each other even after my parents past away. I always felt she was apart of my family and I will miss her dearly. I know that she is at peace with our Heavenly Father and all the pain is gone and she is now with her friends that went before her. I will miss you my friend and rest in peace till we see each other again. Love, Cheryl My sincere condolences to Betty's friends and family members in their loss of a "special" person. I was a member of Betty's "first class" at Charlotte Cross. It was made up of mostly boys and was a tough introduction to the teaching profession for Betty as she told me many years later. She was a breath of fresh air since most of the staff were middle age and Betty was a young, fresh out of college "knock-out" to us boys. Later in my adult life I also became an elementary teacher and ran into Betty on occasion and we would discuss her early years at "Cross." I am dearly saddened by her passing and always have been thankful that our two lives mingled for a memorable short time. She will always stay in my memories and many others associated with her in her journey through life. God bless her in her deserved resting place. ;
