Galante, Daniel of Lockport, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 10, 2013 in his home. Born on August 24, 1949 in Lockport, he was the son of Florence Siena Galante and the late Ettore (Hector) Galante. Dan was retired from Sherwood Selpac, a division of Harsco, where he worked for more than 30 years. He was a Product Control Specialist. Dan was a talented musician and music enthusiast. He was the drummer for three bands: The Casks in the 1960s; Blue Soup Blues Band in the 1970s; and, Sway in the 1980s. For many decades, he was an active member of the Musicians Union. He also hosted weekly jam sessions in his home and supported the Western New York music scene where he would often be invited to sit in and play a song with the band. He played drums, harmonica, guitar, piano, trumpet, and the accordion. He was also a member of the Redman Club. An avid gardener, he was extremely proud of his annual vegetable crop. He liked making red wine, spaghetti sauce, Italian cookies at Christmastime, and pizza with his grandchildren. At different times of his life, he enjoyed golf, bowling, baseball, ice hockey, and cycling. He also enjoyed restoring his 1955 Chevy Bel Air and watching the History Channel. Dan is survived by his children, Daniel C. Galante of Pompano Beach, FL and Suzanne M. Galante of San Carlos, CA; his mother, Florence Siena Galante; four grandchildren, Daniel C. Galante, Jr., Justine N. Galante, Riley M. Norton and Carter M. Norton; two siblings, Theresa (Mark) Merritt and Raymond Galante, both of Lockport; his former wife of 26 years, Gail Jarand Galante, of Lockport; a nephew, Erik F. Serafin of Emmett, KS; a niece, Kerin A. Jendrzejewski of Wilkes-Berre, PA; and several cousins. Friends may call Friday 4:00 PM 8:00 PM and Saturday 1:00 PM 4:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY where a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
