Powley, James W. of Cambria, passed away on Thursday January 10, 2013 after a long struggle with Parkinsons disease. Born on November 2, 1925 in Niagara Falls, he was the son James and Lillias Williams Powley. He spent most of his life in Cambria and attended Lockport High School where he met his wife Marian when he was 18 and she was 16. After serving in the Navy during WWII he and Marian married in 1947. Jim worked on the Niagara Power Authority project starting his career as an apprentice, eventually becoming a master craftsman and contractor. He taught carpentry at McKinley Vocational High School where he guided many students and led by example to instill integrity and a strong work ethic. Jim had a wicked sense of humor and loved to laugh and have fun. Family was a constant source of joy and pride to him. Surviving are his wife, Marian Lewis Powley; he is the father of six children, James (Kathleen) Powley, Jr.,Susan (John) Kelleher, Craig (Janine) Powley, Kenneth (Karen) Powley, Barbara (Timothy) Barthel and Bethany (Daniel) Schultz; grandfather of 14 grandchildren, Vanessa (Seth) Nells, Faith Kelleher,Hannah Kelleher, Kerissa (Dennis) Koch, Tarra (Vince) Lorusso, Jessica (Scott) Holler, Rachel (Jim) OCallaghan, Ashley (Nate) Hill, Adam(Nancy) Powley, Cole (Kendra) Barthel, Conor Barthel, Madelaine, Marisa and Mason Schultz, the late Neysa Powley and the late Meghan Kelleher, great grandfather of 14, brother of Frederick (Ruth) Powley and uncle of several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM from Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from Lockport Alliance Church, 555 Davison Road, Lockport. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc. or the church. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
