Meincke, Roland J. of Newfane, NY passed away on Wednesday May 5, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on July 28, 1928 in Lockport, he as the son of Edward C. and Jane Cunningham Meincke. Mr. Meincke was a tool and die maker at the Chevrolet Forge Plant in Tonawanda for 30 years and served as Niagara County Supervisor and Legislator. He was a member of All Saints Parish, one of the three founders of Niagara County Federal Credit Union, was a baseball umpire and pitcher, enjoyed farming and going to the Lockport market and Sabre's games with his grandchildren. Mr. Meincke was predeceased in 2003 by his wife, Sally Stevenson Meincke and his grandson, Brian R. Payne. He is survived by and the father of David (Elaine) Meincke of Newfane and Mary Anne (late Robert) Payne of Lockport; grandfather of Aaron M. Payne, Alison (Richard) Van Horn, Matthew M. (Katie) Meincke and Andrew M. Meincke; great grandfather of Ian, Macy, Madison and Zachary; brother of John Meincke; brother-in-law of Eileen Stevenson and Norbert Haley and uncle of several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday 6:00 9:00 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 9:00 AM from All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment in Wrights Corners Cemetery.
