Obituary of Leola E. Hart

Hart, Leola Elcena, 97, of Lockport, NY, passed away on March 1, 2012 in Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Care Facility. Born on July 21, 1914 in Clayton, NY, she was the daughter of Ruel Bryant Hibbard and Elcena Mary Potter Hibbard. She graduated from Clayton High School and married James Burton Hart on April 17, 1936. He died in December 1994. Their early years were spent in Clayton. They lived in Gouverneur, NY for over 40 years and moved to Lockport in 1989. Many enjoyable summers were spent at Trout Lake. She was dedicated to her husband and children and was involved in crafts and church activities. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and a fifty year member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hart is survived by her children: Virginia (John) Misch, Lockport, Suzanne (Donald) Culver, Flower Mound, TX and James (Sharon) Hart, Jr., East Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Katherine (Barry) Stockhaus, WI, Diane (Glenn) Aronow, Lockport, Todd (Teresa) Culver, VA, Dale Culver, IN, Sheryl (John) Grantham, TX, Dr. Courtney (Todd) VanderGalien, MI, Nicole Naimo, MI and Stephanie Hart, OR; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Marion, Ruel, Helen and Robert. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur, NY.
