Obituary of Elizabeth V. Brauer

Brauer, Elizabeth V. of Lockport, NY, passed away on Saturday October 1, 2011 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on November 26, 1918 in Lockport, she was the daughter of James H. and Catherine E. Purtell McKeever. She grew up on a farm, the oldest in a large family. Elizabeth married William F. Brauer on January 30, 1937 and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on January 30, 2007. William passed away on March 16, 2007. William was in WWII, leaving Elizabeth to raise their children. She was a caring and loving person. No task was too hard and she helped others with a smile on her face. Her religion was very special to her and she read her devotions right up to the day she entered the hospital. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and was an officer and faithful attendee of the Elizabeth and Ruth Circles. Wife of the late William F. Brauer, she is survived by her children, Arthur W. (Brenda) Brauer, Richard F. (Sharon) Brauer and Karen E. (Raymond) Cody, eight grandchildren, Kevin (Catherine) Brauer, Robin (Michael) Willey, Julie (Gary) Kaplin, Susan (Darrel) Oevermann, Nursen Guven Germann, Scott (Pamela) Brauer, Raymond (Rebecca) Cody and Christine (Daniel) Walterick, ten great grandchildren, Brendon, Carly and Shannon Willey, Meaghan, Ryan and Caitlin Brauer, Maron and Luke Brauer, Tyler Walterick and William Cody, two sisters, Geraldine (late George) Adams and Vivian (late Herbert) Pearson, two brothers, LeRoy (Shirley) McKeever and Edison (Joanne) McKeever, several nieces and nephews, dear friends, Pamela Harmon and other members of her church family. She was predeceased by five sisters, Catherine Brandenburg, Dorothy Pompa, Gladys Bascom, Evelyn McGovern and Alice McKeever and one brother, James T. McKeever. Friends may call on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from First English Lutheran Church, 185 Locust St., Lockport, NY. Burial will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
